It really is an endless summer

It's been three years plus since I've retired and there hasn't been a day go by that I haven't enjoyed (well, except for those couple of awful months in the winter...)
You may have noticed I've been much too busy having fun to blog. There's much I wish to write about and share and, oh so many pictures of the grands and America and friends and family to publish, but not right now.

I'm in the throes of enjoying myself too much to spend time on the computer.
Just one little short note:

I just ordered this book

because, even if I never ever bake a cake pop, they're just too cute to look at.

It's been a while since I've visited the oh so creative bakerella

Look what's she's done to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Sesame Street

You can find the directions here:

12 minus 1 layer cake

This doesn't look a thing like Bakerella's.
Tasted pretty good, but next time I would bake less cake sections for a shorter time and do my own frosting recipe.
Thank you, Derek, for cleaning up the mess I made on the stove!

oh my, oh my, oh my...

Everyone knows how much I love Pioneer Woman and her contests. I really didn't have any interest in entering the one for the visit to the lodge for time with Bakerella, however, when I saw the hello kitty pops that she made I did have to check out her site, Bakerella

I think the 14 layer cake is the coolest and doesn't really look that hard. I need an occasion to make one!
