An interesting read
Yet another fascinating story of World War II, from yet another part of the world I'd never considered.
It's set in post war Hong Kong, 1953, and flashbacks to 1941, when the British expats, far from the mother country, live the good life. The party scene comes to a screeching halt when Japan takes over. Those of British descent are interned in a camp with deplorable conditions, similar to Manzanar. Many on the outside resort to collaboration with the enemy.
The intrigue and suspense made it a captivating story.

I heard a great interview on NPR last month about this very book - Ann, do you have it? or did you find it at the Library? I'd really like to read it. :-) - Davi
